Gonçalo S. Faria
I am a Research Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study in Toulouse. My research interests in biology are evolution and animal behaviour (including humans). Specifically, I am interested in understanding how behaviours evolve and why. Do they provide an advantage to the individual when interacting with others? Why does an individual make a particular choice and not another? How are individuals affected by their social environment? My approach to these questions is purely theoretical, using mathematical analyses and computer simulations to contribute with a conceptual framework that can be used for empirical studies. Although my current scientific approach is theoretical, I have done empirical research in the past, in topics also related to evolutionary biology and behaviour.
