Gonçalo S. Faria

I am a Leverhulme Early-Career Fellow at the School of Biological Sciences, University of East Anglia. My research interests in biology are evolution and animal behaviour (including humans). Specifically, I am interested in understanding how behaviours evolve and why. Do they provide an advantage to the individual when interacting with others? Why does an individual make a particular choice and not another? How are individuals affected by their social environment? My approach to these questions is theoretical, using mathematical analyses and computer simulations to contribute with conceptual frameworks for empirical research. Although my scientific approach is primarily theoretical, I sometimes also do empirical research on evolutionary biology and animal behaviour.
